Vitalizer - your body will thank you

Many people believe that a single multi-vitamin is all you need.  Looking at the positive, if all you are doing is taking a single multivitamin I'd say at least that action is a start.  Many don't even do that so at least you are aware of your health and desire to give your body the nutrients you need.  The question is - are you really fulfilling that need?

Vitalizer answers that question with a declarative 'YES!'

How is this possible?  Vitalizer is more than just a single multivitamin; it includes 80 bio-optimized nutrients clinically proven to create a foundation for a longer, healthier life.  It also features a patent-pending delivery system designed to enhance absorption of key nutrients.  That means your body is getting what it needs when and where it needs it.  Greater detail can be seen here - on our website. (click on the S.M.A.R.T. tab)

The best part is - you don't have to take my word for it.  You can test it our for yourself with Shaklee's money back guarantee.  That is how confident they are in this product.  Purchase Vitalizer, receive a free membership, and take it for 30 days.  If you don't feel better in 30 days, get your money back.

Interested?  Contact me or go to our website.  Your body will thank you.

Inspirational...and Shaklee is part of it!

The story of Jacqui McCoy is inspirational.  What an amazing feat she accomplished and what makes this even better is that she continues to eat healthy and keep the weight off.  It's also a great example of how Shaklee products can make such a difference in both improving as well as maintaining your health.

Here is an excerpt from the June 21st Shaklee newsletter:

Jacqui McCoyJacqui McCoy’s success on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition is a history-making story of amazing transformation.  In just a year, guided by extreme transformation specialist Chris Powell, Jacqui lost 207 pounds - 58% of her total body weight - the highest percentage lost in television history.
And guess what?  Jacqui is a Shaklee kid and an Associate in Shaklee!  Jacqui has been supported throughout her journey by her family, including her husband, firefighter Shawn McCoy and her mom and dad, Wanda and Jon Hart, Coordinators from West Palm Beach, Florida!
Jacqui’s diet and fitness regime were prescribed by her coaches on Extreme Makeover.  Jacqui is also a passionate advocate for Shaklee products and her nutritional needs were supported by her use of Shaklee nutrition, including Shaklee Vitalizer™ and OmegaGuard®.
Jacqui After
Where is Jacqui now?  A year and a half after her amazing weight loss, Jacqui remains at 155 pounds and Vitalizer™ and Cinch® are part of her new daily routine.  Jacqui loves and uses Cinch Shakes, Cinch Meal-in-a-Bars, Cinch Snack Bars, and lots of other Shaklee products.  And these days, she’s sharing what she knows – including the importance of a solid nutrition foundation with Shaklee Vitalizer - with next season’s contestants. Extreme Makeover asked Jacqui to be a consultant on the show’s third season, and Shaklee was asked to ship enough Vitalizer for the contestants Jacqui is now coaching!

Pure Performance - for athletes of all ages

My boys are not at the level of the athletes in this video but I like to know that I can provide them with nutrition that will only help them as they practice their skills on the field.

I don't desire for them to be Olympians. Rather, I desire them to do their personal best and recognize the fact that what goes into their bodies will impact their ability to perform - whatever their level of achievement.

This weekend, they both will be participating in soccer tournaments. Many athletes will consume sugar-filled drinks when re-hydrating. I'll admit, in the past, I was guilty of this as well - not aware of the available alternatives. Not this weekend though. Both of them will be using Shaklee's Sports Nutrition - specifically the pure hydration drinks.

My youngest tells me that he wants to be a soccer player when he grows up.  Says he wants to play for the USA in the World Cup.  Obviously he is not lacking in confidence.  LOL.  How do I respond?  Neutrally.  I tell him that my hearts desire is for him to do whatever God has called him to and if that means playing soccer on a professional level, then I will support him in that. Ultimately his identity needs to be about who he is and not what he does.  Bonus for me if I can positively impact his health in the process.

The following video highlights elite athletes from the newly formed Pure Performance Team. You can learn more about many of the athletes and their achievements here.  It is amazing to note that throughout the years, Shaklee-powered athletes have won over 100 medals in the summer and winter Games!

Fighting Allergens, FREE Shaklee Membership, and Giveaway

Why Shaklee?

I am a "what you see is what you get" kind of gal.  I like the fact that my supplements and cleaning products are that way too.  They are naturally safe for me, my family and the world we live in AND they work.  The products do what they are supposed to.

Like the individuals featured in this video, Shaklee has been part of my life for years - over 30 years.  There are so many times that I've seen the positive impacts and I'm thankful for the integrity of this product and company.

That being said, we've run out of Alfalfa Complex and it's showing.  There are so many benefits to Alfalfa but the one I'm referring to right now is the fact that the chlorophyll acts to reduce the effects of inflammation.  That coupled with the support it gives to the immune system helps my son who struggles with mild allergies and Simms who seems to have allergy symptoms appear in the spring as well as the fall.  With the addition of Alfalfa Complex to the supplements they take, we see the symptoms reduce dramatically in my son and completely alleviate for my husband.  Definitely worth it.  Guess what I'm reordering this week?

Alfalfa Complex

Speaking of ordering Shaklee...a great deal ends TODAY - April 30th - you can receive a FREE Shaklee membership with any order.

Also...there is a great giveaway at my sister's blog right now through May 1st.  Check out her post and enter to win!

ShakleeKids

Vitamins for your kiddos.  Are they part of your daily routine?  Have you ever read the ingredients?  You might want to do that. Check for artificial ingredients - sweeteners and/or flavors. How about preservatives?

You might say that everything seems to have some of that in there.  Maybe you've even accepted it as part of life.  You don't have to.

ShakleeKids provides vitamins that have NO artificial ingredients and NO preservatives.  When my youngest takes his vitamins, I know that he is receiving all of the nutrients he needs - including his B and C vitamins; his immune system is boosted and he is also receiving his omegas - each and every day.

The video below provides more information about ShakleeKids and their benefits.  If you have 3 extra minutes, it is definitely worth watching.

NutriFeron and Your Immune System

NutriFeron...what is it?  Quite simply, it is a power-packed supplement that boosts your immune system.

Dr. Yasuhiko Kojima, who first discovered interferon in 1954 while conducting research at Tokyo University, continued to research, testing hundreds of compounds.  After 40 years, he developed a unique blend of four powerful plant extract that boosts the body's natural production of interferon - which is a critical activator of the immune system.  This unique blend is NutriFeron and is available only through Shaklee.

NutriFeron works at the cellular level in two ways:
• Rapidly activates your immune system’s defenses
• Mobilizes the immune system’s “search-and-destroy” teams

Sounds good but does is work?  My answer is yes.

This past fall, my oldest learned how to swallow vitamins and graduated from Shakleekids Incredivites to Vita Lea and Vita-C.  I didn't have him take NutriFeron daily but when he started to show symptoms of a cold, he took one in the morning and one at night.  Within three days, symptoms of the cold were no longer present.  Not only was he able to remain healthy bu the rest of us did too!

He also has shown symptoms of mild allergies and has been diagnosed with Exercise Induced Asthma.  Just this week we decided to implement the use of Alfalfa.  I'll share the results of that in another post.  Stay tuned!

Basic G...safe, effective, and economical

Preparation of Basic G for my home

Basic G is a Shaklee product that you might not be familiar with.  This product is what I would call 'old school'.  It is something I remember from my childhood.  Technically it isn't included in the Get Clean line.  However a 'daughter' product is - the Germ Off Fragrance Free Disinfecting Wipes.  Don't get me wrong - the wipes are great and convenient - but I still prefer to dilute this wonderful concentrate and sanitize our home.

It's perfect in the kitchen and bathrooms. This is why there are four spray bottles in the picture above.  This was a day that I was preparing my solution.  Call it laziness if you want, but this way, the cleaner I want is in the room when I need it.

Why Basic G?

  • it's antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal - meaning it destroys over 40 of these annoying microbes.  That makes it perfect for the kitchen and bathroom areas of your home.  And if you have pets - this also combats many animal viruses as well and is safe to use in your pet areas.
  • It's economical.  One quart - pictured above (less than $20 if you are a Shaklee member) will make up to 64 gallons which equals 512 of my spray bottles pictured above.  Think about that...how much would it cost you to buy 512 bottles of whatever sanitizer you are currently using?
Technically, you wouldn't use a scale to measure the amount for the solution - but I was curious so I checked it out after it was measured.  You see that small amount of green liquid?  That is the Basic G.  The quantity is 1/2 Tbs.  I diluted that in 1/2 gallon of water and then put 16 ounces in each of my four spray bottles.  How fantastic is that?!?

Want to know more about Basic G or any other Shaklee product?  I would be happy to share my experiences with you.  You can leave a comment or email me (link is under my profile).  Please feel free to check out my website as well http://campbellwholesomeliving.myshaklee.com

Coffee Filters...they clean mirrors too!

Mrs. Meyer's Clean Home

I like resources.  This book has become just that to me.  A great resource for tips to keep my house clean.

I like tips too.  Especially those that make my life easier and improve our quality of living at the same time.

Our house isn't perfect.  It's lived in.  No profound statement there yet somehow, I used to think I wasn't successful unless the house looked 'show ready'.  Whatever.  I'm beyond that now...this is real life people.  Projects are still on this month's "to do" list and many more continue to brew in my mind.  But for the day-to-day living I can say our house is a clean, lived in home meaning there is always something to do but the basics are being maintained.

Okay...getting beyond the daily maintenance of our home, one of the tips that I tried out today is the use of a coffee filter.  Yes - I did use one to brew a pot this morning before the cleaning began.  That's not the coffee filter I'm talking about.  Back to cleaning...

In the past I've had a love-not so thrilled with the mirror / window cleaning version of Shaklee's H2 concentrate.  While I enjoy and encourage the use of cleaners that clean without adding toxins to your household (and saving money in the process!), I haven't always been thrilled with my mirrors and windows and sometimes broke down and bought the streak free windex cleaner...which had recently run out.

What to do?  I really really want to like my toxin-free, family safe cleaner but I want my mirrors to look good for a whole week...not just for a couple hours until they get that cloudy look or streaks that suddenly appear that weren't there before...or they were hiding.

Shaklee H2 for Windows and Mirrors

Enter the tip...coffee filter.  I was doubtful.  How could this really make the difference?  I actually didn't think of it right away and sprayed the mirror, drying it with the usual cloth and pouted as the dismal results.  I prayed.  I really did.  I know it's just cleaning but, if you haven't realized it yet, Jesus is one of my best friends and I talk to Him about everything.  Today, that included my cloudy looking mirror.  It was then I remembered the tip of the coffee filter.  Mrs. Meyer's actually suggests newspaper too but then my hands get yucky and I don't like that either.  I got one of my filters and sprayed the mirror again.  The result almost took my breath away.  Literally.  I'm not even kidding.

I only needed one coffee filter for the entire mirror.  It dried the mirror - there are no streaks and it looks so sparkly clean.  You can see my smile can't you?  It's wide.  I finally can truly enjoy my cleaner AND have clean, sparkly mirrors.  That is until the boys make their mark on them...

Have you used coffee filters before?  Newspaper?  What works for you?

Sports Nutrition

It has not truly felt like winter and yet I know that spring is right around the corner.  This change of season brings the start of spring sports.

Barber's baseball evaluations were this past weekend and practices for baseball and soccer will begin sometime in March.  April will bring the games and that will continue through the beginning of June.  It's a busy time but it's also fun - I truly enjoy seeing the boys work at and improve upon their skills.  I also get to work on my photographic skills again!

One struggle that we have had in the past are sports drinks.  All that sweetness and sugar - seems to me that it would give the kids a sugar rush and then...crash!  At the same time, I know hydration is important.  They currently have large thermoses that get filled with water.  That works for a typical game day.  This season however, Barber will often have baseball and soccer in the same day.  Yes...he is our little energizer bunny BUT I want him to keep going because of putting good stuff into him.

I've decided to check out Shaklee Performance - they have both orange and lemon-lime flavors.  I really don't know which one he is going to like.  For all I know he might decide to stick with water - but if he wants a sports drink, I appreciate the fact that studies have shown this to minimize fluid loss as well as maintain healthy blood-glucose levels.

Have you used Shaklee Performance?  What is your favorite flavor?  Have you noticed a difference?  I will be sure to report back regarding both Jeter and Barber's likes / dislikes and how it fared for us throughout this spring.  Who knows maybe Jeter's coach (Simms) would enjoy this as well - especially when we have a weekend filled with tournaments.

Shaklee's Basic H2...versatile and economical

One of my favorite cleaning products is Shaklee's Basic H2.  There are many reasons.  It is versatile - I can use the same concentrate to create quality window / mirror cleaners, all purpose cleaners and even a degreaser (this is my absolute favorite).  This difference is how much of the concentrate is added to 16 ounces of water - a few drops up to 1-1/2 tsp.
Shaklee Basic H2 Concentrate

As I said, my favorite is the degreaser (16 oz water with 1-1/2 tsp Basic H2 concentrate) and I use that on my countertops, appliances, floors (in a pinch it is a great cleaner to spray on the floor and then wipe with a microfiber cloth), showers, sinks, etc.  It is definitely my go-to cleaner.

The one downside for me is the fact that there is no odor.  I don't want a toxic odor - I'm using these products because I want to limit the toxins in our home - but I like to have a fresh clean scent.

Enter essential oils.

I add 3-5 drops to my cleaner and give a little shake.  My personal favorite is lavender.  I do however us tea tree for the bathrooms - it is naturally antiseptic.  If you choose to try the tea tree, I would suggest going with 2-3 drops to start because it is quite pungent.

How come I didn't do this sooner?  Honestly, I didn't really think about it.  But now that I have, I can't imagine not incorporating this into my daily life!  My cleaning is still 'green' - it's just a bit more personalized now.

What's one of your favorite cleaning tips or tricks?

The Shaklee Difference

Recently, there was a segment on The Dr. Oz Show titled America's Hidden Health Scandel: Spiked Supplements.  Even my 10 year old son was bothered by the fact that some of the labels had misspellings of ingredients or were vague. I don't know what you think of Dr. Oz.  Personally, I'm not a huge fan and rarely watch the show but Jeter saw the preview regarding the segment on supplements and was curious what they were going to reveal.  Generally speaking, I believe Dr. Oz's intention is to be informative and promote healthy practices but his show - like any other - wants ratings and therefore I think it can tend to instigate and provoke as well as inform.

That being said, I was grateful to confidently assure my son that the supplements and products that we use from Shaklee are natural and safe.  They've been around since 1956 and continue to uphold the expectation of high quality products.  I'm not saying that everyone has to use Shaklee...just take a minute or two and read your labels.  Be aware of what you and your family are consuming.

Now that you've checked your labels, I'd be interested in hearing back from you.  Notice anything that shouldn't be there?

The Vitality of Supplements

Previously I blogged about making some changes in our lives - some are new while others are continued from last year.  Simms and I made some changes to our eating habits last June and that has become our life style.  This is a continued change.

Another aspect that is a continuation in my life (and hopefully one that is more consistent for Simms) is the use of supplements.  I grew up on Shaklee Vitamins - specifically the Vita-Lea - and have seen the benefits of their nutrient value time and again.  Whether it's including additional Vita-C because I bruise easily, adding B-Complex during stressful times because I know that my body is depleting its supply at a faster rate or taking Immunity Formula I and/or NutriFeron to give my immune system the boost it needs during cold season, I know my body is being positively impacted by the natural supplements of Shaklee.

I've heard people express concern about the extra expense supplements pose to their monthly budget.  I agree that it is an investment.  One that I believe is worth budgeting for.

Your life.  Your health.  You are worth it.

If you have about two minutes, consider watching the video below regarding the use of supplements in your diet.

Do you use supplements?  Have you ever considered using them?  Whether you have or haven't, I would love to hear about it!

Laundry Tales

Recently I was able to join two of my favorite products together with the purpose of making my life easier. What are the products? Tupperware and Shaklee.

Laundry is something that seems to be part of every day of my life - like it or not.

Two years ago, we made an investment with the purchase of new, energy efficient washer and dryer. I was thrilled with the result - I could get more laundry done in the same amount of time. I think that alone would put a smile on any mom's face.

A benefit that I was unaware of at the time of the purchase is that I can pre-program my washer. This alone is a bonus - what a time saver to throw a load in the night before and have it ready for me to throw in the drying the next morning. What I learned is that this works best with a powder detergent.

Prior to this, I always used a liquid detergent - it was easy to use and there wasn't any danger of the liquid "clumping". I decided to make the switch. I purchased the 5.5 lb of Shaklee's Fresh Laundry Concentrate and loved it. I made sure to close the bag after every use and although I didn't experience any major clumping, it did appear that a little moisture had gotten to the powder when I got toward the bottom of the box. The next time around, I decided to buy the 14 lb box - a greater money saver. I just had one problem to solve - how to make ensure the lack of moisture. My solution included a Tupperware container that was sitting in storage. It's worked perfectly. Not only has Tupperware organized my kitchen pantry - it's now helping me out in my laundry area as well.
